LETS Training Ltd
LETS Training, based in central Eastleigh, provide training to the port, industrial and construction industries. They were already familiar with apprenticeships having recently delivered an Apprenticeship in Plant Operations to a cohort of local young people themselves. When they found themselves needing some extra help in the office, company director Steve Barker had no hesitation in offering the opportunity to an apprentice.
Steve explains, “We decided as a company to give a young person a chance to start their career, gain some practical experience of working in a business environment and get a worthwhile qualification at the same time. We needed to recruit someone really quickly as I was spending too much time managing the office myself and this was costing us money. I knew Tim from Apprentices for Business already and gave him a call. Tim came straight out to meet us and really appreciated our urgency; he found us Becky in a couple of weeks and she has been with us since August. Becky has been a real asset to LETS Training; she is smart, quick-to-learn, full of new ideas and keeps us all in order!
Tim organised her training for us and Becky now attends Eastleigh College on Thursdays. I think that apprenticeships are a real alternative to University and I would urge any business to give apprentices a try. Apprentices for Business made it easy for us and it really has been a worthwhile experience.”
